Tutoring goals to improve student performance

I work together with the student, his/her parents and teachers to:

  • Tackle new academic challenges in the face of limited time

Private tutoring provides students at all levels of ability with the focus and assistance needed to achieve at high levels. Finding time during the school day can be difficult, given their busy schedules in school, sports, and other extracurricular activities.

  • Strengthen weak foundations

Many math students have a need to strengthen their foundations from previous years, as well as keep up with the current new material.

  • Improve problem-solving techniques

Learning new concepts, methodologies, and techniques can become problematic, especially to those who are exposed to physics “Lab Reports” for the first time.

  • Optimize test-taking strategies

Students becoming anxious about ACT, SAT and SAT Subject Tests in math and physics need a systematic way to bolster the basics, to optimize their time, and to manage the overall test-taking experience.

  • Organize course materials

Students often need guidance organizing and maintaining class notes, assignments, schedules, due dates, etc. – all of which are key elements for doing well in the course.

  • Use technology when appropriate

Many math and physics courses are using popular technology tools such as graphing calculators, spreadsheets, and statistical software to support, enhance and reinforce the basics.
